What We Look For
While academic achievement is important, our solicitors are people with the personality
and confidence to apply their legal knowledge to their work. We believe interpersonal
skills are just as important as legal skills to become trusted advisors who can
provide excellent client service. As a firm with a solid reputation for client service,
we expect all our legal employees including prospective trainees:
- to have consistent excellent academic qualifications (minimum 2:1 degree in law
or second degree)
- to have a strong desire to continually learn, update skills and share knowledge
- to be confident and effective communicators
- to be trusted advisors
- to support our ethos of putting clients first
- to be team players
- to go the extra mile

While our trainees are recruited into specific offices, the Firm believes in providing
a varied training programme and will, where possible, endeavour to facilitate a
trainee preference for a practice area in either their base office or another office.
Jobs on Qualification
When recruiting trainees, we look towards the continued growth of the firm and with
this mind all our recruitment is done of the basis that our trainees of today are
our partners of tomorrow. As with any business, we aim to retain all our trainees
on qualification. Of our current 33 partners, 8 started as trainees with the Firm.

How to Apply
Only candidates who succesfully complete a summer placement with us will be considered
for traineeships.
As our summer placements programme for 2010 is now full, details of the recruitment
process for summer placements in 2011 will be available on our website later this
year.
Our commitment to you and your commitment to us
Should we offer you a traineeship we are making a commitment to you. Should you
accept, you are also making a commitment to us to undertake your training contract
with us. Having accepted a position, it is unacceptable and unfair to other students
to withdraw your commitment. You should therefore apply only if you are certain
that you wish to undertake a traineeship with us.
